SBA loans
SBA Express is a streamlined loan program offering up to $500,000 with an expedited review process, typically 36 hours from the SBA. Veterans receive fee waivers under the Veterans Advantage program, reducing upfront costs and making the effective borrowing cost lower than almost any alternative for startup or growth capital.
The Express variant trades a lower guaranty percentage (50% instead of 85%) for speed. Lenders can use their own credit criteria within SBA guardrails, so approvals move faster than the standard SBA 7(a) loan. For veterans, the SBA waives its guaranty fee entirely on loans up to $500,000 if you qualify under the Veterans Advantage criteria: veteran or service-disabled veteran ownership of 51% or more, or a spouse claiming eligibility under the military reservist economic injury program.
Kenosha's veteran community is significant. With the Great Lakes Naval Station twenty minutes south and the Kenosha VA clinic serving thousands, many former service members settle here. They open HVAC companies, buy into franchises along Highway 50, launch IT consulting firms, and acquire small manufacturing operations near the Union Pacific line. SBA Express gives them working capital, equipment money, or acquisition financing without the multi-month waits that kill momentum.

As a licensed commercial broker, Dawnfield Financial prepares your SBA Express loan application, matches you with participating lenders experienced in veteran lending, and manages the process from pre-qualification through closing. We handle the paperwork so you can focus on building the business.
We've closed deals for a veteran-owned HVAC contractor in Somers who needed a truck and tools, a former Marine buying a bar and grill in downtown Kenosha, and a Navy vet launching a cybersecurity consultancy in Pleasant Prairie. Each required different lender appetites and documentation strategies.
Our process starts at our office, 3535 30th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53144, or by phone at (262) 261-9512. We review your DD-214, business plan, personal credit, and collateral. We build the loan package, submit to multiple SBA Express lenders in our network, and negotiate terms. If Express doesn't fit, we pivot to standard SBA 7(a), equipment financing, or another structure that does.
A former Army logistics specialist wanted to open a custom metal fabrication shop in the Kenosha Industrial Park off 88th Avenue. He had welding certifications, a client list from side jobs, and $40,000 saved. He needed $180,000 for a used CNC plasma table, a truck, working capital, and six months of lease payments.
Traditional banks wanted two years of tax returns. We brokered an SBA Express loan through a lender that valued his military procurement experience and the letters of intent from three local manufacturers. Loan closed in 41 days. The shop now employs four people and supplies parts to companies in Sturtevant and Mount Pleasant.
Loan programs
Dawnfield Financial brokers multiple funding structures for veterans: standard SBA 7(a) up to $5 million, commercial real estate loans for property purchase, equipment financing for machinery or vehicles, working capital lines, and invoice factoring. We match the program to your situation, not the other way around.
Some veteran-owned businesses need more than $500,000. Others need speed over fee savings. A few need revenue-based products because they're pre-revenue. We broker all of it. Our job is to know which lenders in Wisconsin and nationwide will fund which deals, then position your file to win approval.
If you're a veteran starting or growing a business anywhere in Kenosha and surrounding areas, call (262) 261-9512 or stop by 3535 30th Ave. We'll tell you what's realistic, what it costs, and how long it takes. No runaround. No jargon. Just the straight answer a veteran deserves.
